This is the P90 | Asiimov in Battle-Scarred (BS), the cheapest of its five wears. The gap to the top is not large: Factory New costs only 1.35 times as much. The skin's wear scale is cut off at 0.92, so the float here runs from 0.45 to 0.92. The rank is Covert, and the submachine gun drops from the Operation Breakout Weapon Case.
What the P90 | Asiimov looks like in Battle-Scarred
The body is white, smooth and large. Orange marks the top rail with the sight, the stripes along the sides and the wide diagonal insert at the rear cut, with a dark wedge running beside it. Small black icons and arrows are scattered over the white, and slanted black strokes stretch along the top rail. Valve describes the artwork as science-fiction.
In Battle-Scarred the wear is deep. On the large white area it reads as gray blotches and scuffed edges, the orange stripes dull, and the black details lose contrast. The band from 0.45 to 0.92 covers 51% of the scale, so two listings with the same label can differ a lot. The float is set at drop and does not change afterward.
Where the P90 | Asiimov came from
The finish was designed by Coridium. His submission "P90 - ASIIMOV" appeared in the Steam Workshop on December 19, 2013, and the author calls it the ninth piece in his series of Asiimov finishes. The Breakout Collection opened in the game on July 1, 2014, and the P90 | Asiimov was in it from day one. Its Valve catalog number is 359.
What to check before buying
What sets listings of the P90 | Asiimov apart:
- float: the band is wide, so look for a listing by the number rather than by the wear label;
- any name tag or stickers, since they stay with the copy;
- gray blotches on the white areas, and the state of the orange stripes.
There is no point hunting for the P90 | Asiimov by pattern index: the artwork does not change.
What the P90 | Asiimov costs in Battle-Scarred
The other wears cost more:
- Well-Worn, 1.04 times more;
- Field-Tested, 1.05 times more;
- Minimal Wear, 1.12 times more;
- Factory New, 1.35 times more.
The ladder is shallow here: from the most worn copy to the cleanest one, the price rises by only a third, and the three lowest wears nearly coincide. The saving on Battle-Scarred is small, so it should be chosen for the look, not the price.
Getting the P90 | Asiimov
The skin drops from the Operation Breakout Weapon Case. A trade-up into the P90 | Asiimov needs ten skins one step down, all from this collection, which holds two Covert skins, so the P90 is one outcome in two. Covert also feeds the knife craft, and Breakout lists a single model: the Butterfly Knife.
StatTrak and Souvenir
The P90 | Asiimov has a StatTrak version. No souvenir packages were made for this finish, but you can assemble a souvenir copy yourself through the Souvenir-O-Matic.
Stickers and craft on the P90 | Asiimov
The white area of the body leaves plenty of room for stickers. Dark and blue ones read clearly on it, orange ones merge with the stripes, and white ones vanish. On a worn body the gray blotches sit right beside a sticker, so it is better to build the craft on the clean areas near the grip.
Who this wear suits
Buying the P90 | Asiimov in this wear is right if one of these applies:
- you want a Covert submachine gun for CS2 at the lowest price of the five wears;
- visible wear on the white does not bother you;
- you pick a listing by float number within 0.45 to 0.92.
