The R8 Revolver | Cobalt Grip in Factory New (FN) keeps an even violet-blue on the grip, with no light corners on it yet. In this wear the float falls between 0.00 and 0.07. It is Consumer Grade rank and belongs to the Ascent Collection, which arrives through weekly drops for time played.
What the R8 Revolver | Cobalt Grip looks like in Factory New
Exactly one part is painted: the grip is flooded with a rich violet-blue, with a fine scaly texture on top. The frame, cylinder, barrel and top strap stay as dark gray factory metal. The .357 marking reads on the barrel, and the grip has a non-slip relief. There is no separate artwork on the body, and the whole effect comes from the contrast between the colored grip and the dark steel.
In Factory New the corners of the grip are even and dark, and that is exactly where the blue lightens first. The metal of the body shows no wear at all, so on this revolver the entire difference between wears is gathered in one part. The band from 0.00 to 0.07 is tight, and the outermost listings differ only by the number.
Where the R8 Revolver | Cobalt Grip came from
The collection came out on March 31, 2025. The finish is by Valve itself: there is no Steam Workshop submission behind the artwork. On the same day Valve added three sets to the weekly drops at once, the Ascent among them. In the Valve finish catalog the design stands at number 1276.
What to check before buying
What matters when buying an R8 Revolver | Cobalt Grip:
- float within 0.00 to 0.07: across this stretch the corners of the grip have no light patches;
- how the scaly texture lies on the particular copy;
- what the previous owner left on the R8 Revolver | Cobalt Grip, meaning stickers and an applied name.
Pattern and how it varies
The pattern index of this finish is randomized, so copies of the R8 Revolver | Cobalt Grip differ in more than float. The texture on the grip falls differently on each copy, so at equal wear the picture comes out different. Check it against the listing's image in CS2 rather than the name: after float, this is the second factor in the price.
What the R8 Revolver | Cobalt Grip costs in Factory New
All five wears of this revolver cost a few cents, and the order among them says nothing about the finish itself: a couple of stray listings rearrange it. Well-Worn is dearer here than the clean wear, while Minimal Wear and Battle-Scarred are cheaper several times over. At such sums it is cent arithmetic, not a pattern.
Among Consumer Grade R8s with a price in this wear, this finish is the cheapest, level with R8 Revolver | Mauve Aside. Next come R8 Revolver | Inlay, slightly dearer, and R8 Revolver | Bone Mask, at about five times as much. At the top of the rank the gap becomes real: R8 Revolver | Night costs more than twenty times as much, and R8 Revolver | Canal Spray about eighty times.
Getting the R8 Revolver | Cobalt Grip
The R8 Revolver | Cobalt Grip is not in any case. Items of the Ascent Collection are given out as a weekly reward for time played, and keys and opening have nothing to do with it.
A trade-up cannot produce this finish, since nothing in the collection ranks below it. The revolver does work as an input, though: ten Consumer Grade skins from the set yield one Industrial Grade skin.
StatTrak and Souvenir
Stickers and craft on the R8 Revolver | Cobalt Grip
No StatTrak version of the R8 Revolver | Cobalt Grip was ever released. Souvenir copies do turn up, but no Souvenir packages were made for this finish: packages only ever covered tournament map collections. Those copies are built with the Souvenir-O-Matic, which puts gold tournament stickers and a player autograph on a normal skin from the inventory.
The dark metal of the frame and barrel is what is left for stickers, since a sticker cannot cover the painted grip. On a graphite ground any color reads except black, and blue and violet logos echo the grip. A cheap base tolerates experiments: there is almost nothing to lose on a failed build.
Who this wear suits
Factory New is worth buying for the R8 Revolver | Cobalt Grip when:
- you want a colored revolver for CS2 for a few cents;
- an even grip without light corners matters to you;
- you choose the listing by its picture, not by the wear label.
There is essentially no surcharge for Factory New here: the wears are cents apart, so the look of the particular listing decides.
