USP-S | Caiman (Field-Tested)

The USP-S | Caiman in Field-Tested (FT) is a suppressed USP with turquoise scales and a red-orange reptile eye on the slide. It is a Classified skin from The Huntsman Collection and drops from the Huntsman Weapon Case. In CS2 it comes in four wears: the skin's scale ends at 0.40, so there is no Battle-Scarred version.

What the USP-S | Caiman looks like in Field-Tested

The slide and frame are steel gray, and the suppressor is a dark gray, almost black. Across the rear of the slide lies a band of blue-turquoise scales with an orange-red eye in it, its pupil a vertical slit. The grip is bright orange and ribbed, and the base of the magazine is orange as well.

In Field-Tested the scuffs settle on the edges of the slide and frame, while the scales and the eye remain colored patches on gray metal. The band for this wear runs from 0.15 to 0.38 on the Caiman, more than half of the skin's whole scale.

Where the USP-S | Caiman came from

The finish came from the Steam Workshop. The submission was titled "USP-S | KAIMAN" and appeared in the Workshop on December 14, 2013, under two authors, Oni and Zaphk. In the game Valve spelled the name Caiman. In Valve's catalog of finishes it is number 339.

The Huntsman Collection came out together with the Huntsman Weapon Case in May 2014, and the USP-S | Caiman has been in the set since release.

What to check before buying

Before taking a USP-S | Caiman, look at these points:

• the float: in this wear it spans 0.15 to 0.38, so you meet both nearly clean bodies and clearly scuffed ones;

• the name tag and stickers this particular USP-S already carries.

The artwork is applied identically across the whole run, so the choice comes down to float and stickers.

What the USP-S | Caiman costs in Field-Tested

The other wears, measured against Field-Tested:

• Factory New is roughly three times higher;

• Minimal Wear is about a quarter higher;

• Well-Worn is more than one and a half times higher.

Well-Worn costs more than Field-Tested on the Caiman even though its wear is heavier. The span from 0.38 to 0.40 takes up only five hundredths of the scale.

Among the nine Classified USP-S skins in this wear, the Caiman sits in the middle of the list. USP-S | Whiteout is priced at more than one and a half times as much, and USP-S | Orion from the same case at twice as much. USP-S | Monster Mashup is a sixth cheaper, and USP-S | Cortex about six times cheaper.

Getting the USP-S | Caiman

The USP-S | Caiman drops from the Huntsman Weapon Case. No other case holds this finish.

A trade-up for it takes ten skins from the tier below in this collection. The Huntsman Collection has five Restricted skins and four Classified ones, so the chance of landing on the Caiman specifically is one in four. The tier above holds AK-47 | Vulcan and M4A4 | Desert-Strike.

StatTrak and Souvenir

Stickers and craft on the USP-S | Caiman

The USP-S | Caiman has a StatTrak version. Souvenir copies of the finish exist as well, but no packages were released for it: those were made only for the tournament map collections. Such copies are assembled through the Souvenir-O-Matic, which puts gold tournament stickers and a player autograph on a regular skin from the inventory.

The most neutral part of the skin is the gray metal of the slide, where white and light stickers read sharply. Orange and turquoise stickers repeat the colors of the eye and scales and blend into them, and dark ones disappear on the suppressor.

Who this wear suits

A Field-Tested USP-S | Caiman is a good buy if at least one of these fits:

• you want a USP with a bright colored zone on the slide and grip, without paying extra for a clean body;

• you will search for the float by number, and the span from 0.15 to 0.38 is enough for you;

• you do not need the counter version: a StatTrak copy in this wear costs more than a regular one.

The step up to Minimal Wear adds about a quarter, and Factory New roughly triples the price. In CS2 the difference is purely visual: a skin's wear has no effect on shooting.
