★ Talon Knife

The ★ Talon Knife without a skin is the Talon in CS2 with no paint on it, and the listing description says the knife is not painted. In rank terms it is Covert, with the ★ mark. It has no wear, float or pattern, and all copies are identical.

What the ★ Talon Knife looks like

The Talon's blade is a sickle, its point curving downward. Teeth run along the spine, with three round holes beside them. The steel is bare, with a dark and a light highlight along the blade.

The handle is made of pale, ivory-colored plates with golden rivets and a round inset in the center. The butt ends in a steel finger ring. The knife gets its color from the steel and the pale handle.

How the plain ★ Talon Knife differs from a skinned one

A knife with a skin sets wear, float and pattern. The unpainted Talon has none of that:

• no wear exists, so no float band is shown;

• no pattern exists, so one copy cannot be told from another;

• a name tag can be applied, and there are no stickers;

• all that is left to compare is the price.

That leaves a single choice: the regular Talon or the StatTrak one.

What the ★ Talon Knife costs

In the row of Talon skins, the ★ Talon Knife by starting price sits above eleven skins and below twelve. The nearest beneath it are Crimson Web (1.03 times cheaper), Damascus Steel (1.06 times) and Stained (1.18 times).

Above it stand Blue Steel (10 percent more), Case Hardened (13 percent) and Tiger Tooth (one and a half times as much). Doppler is at the top of the row: Phase 2 costs 2.9 times as much, Sapphire 5 times and Ruby 9.1 times.

Is there a StatTrak version

Yes: the ★ StatTrak™ Talon Knife is a separate listing on its own page. The counter is not reset and passes to the buyer with the count already on it. The premium over the regular Talon is about 6 percent.

Getting the ★ Talon Knife

The ★ Talon Knife in CS2 drops from the Horizon, Danger Zone, Prisma and Prisma 2 cases. The Welcome to the Danger Zone update, with the Danger Zone Case, came out on December 7, 2018. The unpainted knife sits in the rare special item pool, so you get it by chance.

The second route is a contract of five Covert skins from one collection, which returns a single rare special item. The contract decides which one, not the buyer.

Who it suits

The ★ Talon Knife without a skin is worth buying when:

• you want a sickle-shaped blade with no artwork;

• you would rather not sort through floats and phases;

• paying extra for Doppler Phase 2, which costs almost three times as much, makes no sense to you.
