Description

What the Item Is

Unusual Light of the Forgotten Renegade is Keeper of the Light's staff, a weapon slot item from the Forgotten Renegade set. The plain version of the same staff trades for pocket change in Dota 2, and the Unusual tag is what multiplies the price — which makes the effect, not the model, the thing you are buying.

What Unusual Quality Means

The staff occupies Keeper of the Light's weapon slot and replaces the rod he carries by default. Its base rarity is Rare, an ordinary rung rather than anything near the collector end of the game.

It belongs to the Forgotten Renegade set, which also includes a coat, a head piece and a separate mount for the hero. The full set reworks Keeper entirely; the staff on its own changes what is in his hand.

Abilities are untouched. Illuminate, Blinding Light and the rest behave exactly as they do on the default model.

The model came out of the community workshop, as most Dota 2 cosmetics do.

Why the Staff Rather Than the Set

Unusual marks a copy that carries a special effect on it. Those versions trade separately from the plain ones and cost a great deal more, even though the underlying model is the same.

The gap here makes the point better than any explanation: the ordinary staff goes for cents and the Unusual one for a two-figure sum. Nobody is paying for the sculpt.

Which effect a particular copy carries is best checked on the offer itself and in the preview. We would rather point you at that than describe it from memory, because Unusual versions vary.

Which Hero Uses It

A hero's weapon is the most visible part of a Dota 2 loadout after the model itself. Keeper's rod is on screen constantly — it is in his hand through every attack and every cast animation.

That is why the staff sells more often than the full set. It costs less and changes the exact part of the hero you end up looking at all game.

If you do want the hero rebuilt from the ground up, collecting the set piece by piece is the sensible route, since the other Forgotten Renegade items trade on their own.

What It Costs

Keeper of the Light, and nobody else. Dota 2 cosmetics are locked to a single hero, so the staff cannot be moved across.

It coexists with most Keeper sets without any clash, because the weapon slot is independent of the armour and head pieces.

Worth remembering that the hero comes with a mount, and a good part of his silhouette is defined by that. A staff does not transform the picture the way a model replacement would — but it is also almost impossible to mismatch.

Where to Buy the Keeper Staff

The Unusual version holds a two-figure price, around the $20 mark, which is a lot for an item whose base rarity is only Rare. The current amount sits in the card above, taken from live offers.

On LIS-SKINS it normally costs less than the Steam Market, since the Valve commission is not included.

The spread between offers on Unusual items can be wide, because the effects on individual copies differ and the market values them unevenly.

On LIS-SKINS the item is available from this page: sign in through Steam, choose an offer and pay by card, cryptocurrency or e-wallet.

The staff reaches your Steam inventory and is equipped in game from the usual hero loadout screen.

Selling it on works here as well, with the money withdrawn to a card or wallet.
