The best knife cases in CS2 are the ones whose rare-item pool holds valuable knives and finishes: Gamma with the Karambit | Gamma Doppler, Spectrum 2 with Doppler and Marble Fade Butterfly Knives, Horizon with the Talon and Stiletto, plus the newer Gallery and Kilowatt cases with the Kukri. The knife chance is the same in all of them: Valve puts it at 0.26%, or roughly one knife per 385 openings. Each opening costs the case price plus a $2.49 key, and no case pays back on average, so the case you pick decides which knives can drop, not how often.

Not every case has knives: some hold gloves as their rare item. Below are five knife cases worth a look in 2026; the ROI estimates use current LIS-SKINS prices. For a ranking of every case by return, see our guide to the best CS2 cases to open.

Table of contents

Gallery Case in CS2

The Gallery Case came out in 2024 and costs under a dollar. Its main draw is the Kukri Knife in classic finishes such as Slaughter, Crimson Web, Blue Steel, Case Hardened and Fade. On Crimson Web and Case Hardened, the pattern index also affects the price, since it sets how the texture sits on the blade. Kukris start at around $35 for basic finishes, while a Kukri Fade sells for about $160. The case currently shows an estimated ROI of about 45%. Notable weapon skins include the M4A1-S Vaporwave and the Glock-18 Gold Toof. The finishes are covered in our list of the best Kukri skins.

Kilowatt Case

Kilowatt Case in CS2

Kilowatt is the 2024 case that introduced the Kukri, with the same finish set: Fade, Blue Steel, Crimson Web, Case Hardened and others. The case itself costs about 10 cents, so the key is almost the entire cost of an opening. Other skins inside include the AK-47 Inheritance and the AWP Chrome Cannon. The estimated ROI is about 31%, one of the lowest of any case: below 100%, you can end up at a loss even after a rare skin drops and you sell it.

Spectrum 2 Case

Spectrum 2 Case in CS2

Older cases stay relevant next to the new ones. Spectrum 2 (2017, about $3) stands out for its valuable knife finishes: Doppler, Marble Fade, Tiger Tooth and Damascus Steel. Its knife pool covers the Butterfly Knife, Falchion, Huntsman, Bowie Knife and Shadow Daggers. If you are after a Butterfly Knife | Marble Fade or a Doppler, this is one of the cases that can drop it; those knives sell from $1,300. The estimated ROI is about 42%. Weapon skins in the case include the AK-47 The Empress and the M4A1-S Leaded Glass.

Gamma Case

Gamma Case in CS2

The Gamma Case was added in 2016 and still draws collectors. It drops the Karambit, Bayonet, M9 Bayonet, Flip Knife and Gut Knife in Gamma Doppler, Autotronic, Lore, Black Laminate, Bright Water and Freehand. The most valuable outcome is the Karambit | Gamma Doppler: from $1,600 for the regular phases up to about $7,300 for an Emerald. Our Gamma Doppler phases guide explains how the phases differ and why they move the price so much. The case costs about $3 and has an estimated ROI of about 49%. Weapon highlights are the M4A1-S Mecha Industries and the SCAR-20 Bloodsport.

Horizon Case

Horizon Case in CS2

Horizon is another strong knife case, added in 2018. It drops the Talon, Stiletto, Navaja and Ursus knives in classic finishes, including Fade and Case Hardened. A Talon Knife | Fade sells for about $800, while the cheapest Navajas start at around $35. The case costs under $2 and its estimated ROI is about 53%, the best of the five cases here. It also contains the popular AK-47 Neon Rider and M4A1-S Nightmare.

How to Get a Knife Without the Lottery

There is no way to raise the knife chance: over 100 openings, the probability of at least one knife is only about 23%. Buying the knife outright on LIS-SKINS is more reliable and almost always cheaper than trying to unbox it. The other route is a trade-up contract: since fall 2025, exactly 5 Covert skins (all normal or all StatTrak™) turn into a random knife or pair of gloves. Our guide to crafting knives and gloves covers the details. If you open cases anyway, check which skins are in current cases, and the rarest old containers are listed in our overview of the most expensive CS2 cases.

LIS-SKINS sells both cases and the knives themselves, so you do not have to leave it to luck: pick the exact item you want.
