BLAST, which is one of the largest organizers of eSports tournaments in Europe, has completed the first round of investments, having managed to attract 12.5 million euros. Investors included Johan Gedda (CEO and co-founder of Rocket Software) and the Danish investment company Vaekstfonden. Venture investors Creandum, Heartcore and Maki also invested in the development of BLAST.
Gedda spoke about his decision to invest in BLAST as follows: «The opportunity to create and discover technologies that will shape the future of esports – that's one of the reasons why I'm excited to partner with BLAST. I'm impressed with their plans and look forward to using my technology experience to help grow this exciting, fast-growing business."
Erik Balk, one of Vaeksfonden's partners, also commented on his participation: “We have watched BLAST take a leading position in eSports in Europe and beyond, and are proud to support the European company as it moves into the next stage of its development.”
Despite the situation with the coronavirus pandemic, BLAST has recently managed not only not to lose its position, but also to continue to develop, organizing CS:GO competitions in an online format and attracting famous teams to participate.
