A Czech Counter Strike: Global Offensive player could get a real prison sentence for stealing one of the valuable skins. Among the objects he stole was a knife worth $1,400. For most players, the main way to obtain in-game items is through purchases on the Steam Marketplace or third-party sites that sell skins. However, there are also unscrupulous users trying to get rare items fraudulently
In the Czech Republic there is a law according to which fraud with in-game items can result in a prison sentence of up to eight years. In the case mentioned above, the accused was caught while trying to get his hands on a rare skin. He negotiated a purchase with another user and paid a deposit of $190, but after receiving the item in his account, he found himself making the remaining payment. The deceived seller contacted the police, who eventually arrested the fraudster, and now he faces a prison sentence.
A report about this case was even shown on local television. A representative of the Pilsen police confirmed that such a case actually took place, and Czech e-sportsman Tomas Bilek emphasized that the object in question has, first of all, collection value and has no impact on the gameplay. It is hoped that what happened will serve as a warning to other players.
