Journalist and insider Jarek "Dekay" Lewis published an article on the DBLTAP portal discussing the consequences of discovering the “coaching bug.” Over the past month, three coaches have already been temporarily suspended from participating in competitions for using an exploit that allowed them to see a random location on the map and thus assess the movements of the enemy team.
After information about the bug was published, several more trainers were caught using it or admitted to using it themselves, and now their number reaches at least fifteen. The number is expected to at least double by the time the investigation is completed. Jarek Lewis believes that while some action certainly needs to be taken, a lengthy ban for so many coaches would be detrimental to the professional scene and lead to a major drop in its level. According to the journalist, it was thanks to them that the strategy of competitive matches became subtle, complex and sophisticated compared to the first years of the game's existence.
Valve, meanwhile, is inclined to permanently suspend the offending coaches. Valve may not see the decline in the professional scene as a problem, but it is the tactical complexity that attracts many viewers. Jarek hopes that it will be possible to find a middle ground for coaches, where they can influence the team, but without the ability to directly interfere with the game.
