E-sportsman Dmitry “Dima” Bandurka, who announced his move to Valorant back in February, recently published a video where he spoke in more detail about the reasons for this decision. According to the player, the main factor for him was age. Nowadays, most organizations prefer to work with young participants, developing their talent, while it has become more difficult for a twenty-six-year-old eSports player to find opportunities for cooperation.
At the beginning of 2020, when Dima played for Espada, he set himself the goal of reaching a high level within a year. After the project was shelved, he considered whether to go straight to Valorant or consider offers from other esports organizations. Although several teams invited him to their roster, he felt that this was not the level at which he wanted to compete. In addition, Dima believes that the FACEIT administration was biased towards players from the CIS. As a result, Espada did not receive an invite to FPL, despite showing a high level. Ultimately, Dima came to the conclusion that more favorable prospects await him in Valorant.
Recently, several more e-sportsmen have announced their retirement from CS:GO. In particular, Anton “tonyblack” decided to switch to Valorant. Kolesnikov, who at different periods of his career played for Virtus.pro, TeamSpirit and other top teams, and Jimmy “Jumpy” Berndtschon, former coach of fnatic and Notrh.
