Tournament organizer DreamHack has released more details about how the March open matches will play out. The $100,000 prize pool will be distributed among teams from North and South America. The competition will be held from March 10 to 14, and registration for the qualifying games is open now.
Most of the prize fund ($70,000) will be competed by North American teams. Six of them will receive invitations based on the ESL world rankings, and two more will take places in the tournament based on the results of closed qualifying matches. The eight teams will then be divided into two groups. Based on the results of the group selection, four of them will advance to the playoffs, which will end in the final with the drawing of five cards.
In South America, the tournament, due to the smaller number of participants, will be held in a slightly different format. Four teams will compete for the prize, two of which will receive direct invitations, and two will qualify based on their qualifying results. Open qualifying matches will take place from February 18 to 21, and a few days after that the second stage of selection will take place.
In addition to cash prizes, the winners of both tournaments will receive points into the ESL Pro Tour. In North America, the winner will receive 100 points, and in South America – 60.
