ESEA Main player suspected of attempted match-fixing

At the end of the week, a player in the ESEA Main regional league, playing under the nickname brannd, published a recording of a dialogue between two e-sportsmen discussing surrendering a match for a small amount. Namely, Monstar, who advocates for TPGblue, offered Abe "alaNi" Alani from xpLicit $100 in skins or cash for the latter's team to pass the final match. This was necessary for TPGblue to avoid relegation.

In a conversation, the TPGblue player explained that the current team players are not coping with their tasks, and he plans to review the roster next season. However, to do this, he needs to maintain his place in the league now. The Dust2.us portal, which published information about this conversation, confirmed the authenticity of the recording by talking with a player who was familiar with the voices of both participants. The recording was made by alaNi himself, who was suspicious of a request from a player from the opposing team for confidential communication.

The tournament organizers did not comment on the situation despite the fact that evidence of the violation was handed over to them. ESIC, which oversees fair play in eSports, has also not commented on the matter. The match that was discussed in the discussion has already taken place and ended in victory for TPGblue. In another similar case in 2021, the ESIC punished two eSports players for discussing a potential violation even though it never actually happened, but the commission may have decided otherwise in this case.
