If we consider the quality of skins in CS 2 in order and compare their quantity with what was in the old CS GO, we will not see any differences. The quality levels of the colorings have been completely transferred to the new game unchanged.
As before, they differ from each other only in one parameter - float or degree of wear. The float gradations for determining a specific quality level have also not changed.
So in today's article we will, in fact, remind you that in CS 2 there are 5 levels of skin quality (let's go descending - from best to worst), we will describe the characteristic features of each level and give examples of skins for each quality level for one specific weapon. So to speak, we will clearly illustrate to you what different levels of quality of skins look like in CS 2.
And one more important nuance. In the Kaeser community, a question is often asked regarding whether the skin wears out over time. Don't worry about this. You can play at least several thousand matches with the perfect coloring, and in the end nothing will change. Fortunately, the developers from Valve did not include gradual wear and tear of skins into the game.
The quality levels of skins in CS 2
The gradation of quality is calculated according to the wear parameter. There are currently 5 levels. Of course, they differ from each other even visually. Experienced kaesers, if you show them several skins with different degrees of wear, will almost without difficulty determine the level of quality. We hope that after reading the post you will improve your understanding of the issue and will determine the quality of skins in CS 2 without any problems.
So, let’s move directly to the names of the levels (order - from best to worst):
Direct from the factory. Sometimes you will see the abbreviation FN or Factory New. This is the same in English.
A little worn. On websites dedicated to Counter Strike, the abbreviation MW or Minimal Wear is found.
After field testing. If you see the abbreviation FT or Field-Tested, they are the same thing.
Worn. In the English version - WW or Well-Worn.
Battle-Scarred - these are the most worn skins. Marked with the abbreviation BS or the phrase Battle-Scared.

The role of float in determining the quality of skins in CS 2
Float sets the wear value of the skin and the degree of defects on it. Visually, the wear of the paint is determined by the number and degree of abrasions, scratches and chips. Accordingly, the more of them, the more unattractive the appearance of the skin, and the less valuable it is in the eyes of players.
Float is expressed as a specific number in the range from 0 to 1. The closer the float value is to zero, the higher the quality of the skin in CS 2. If you are interested in cheap, but at the same time popular coloring pages, then look for them with a float of about 1. Of course, they will be heavily worn out, with an unclear pattern, but there is no escaping the iron rule: higher wear means lower price.
The relationship between float and the quality of colorings is as follows:
0.01-0.07 - the range for Directly from factory.
0.07-0.15 - range for Lightly Weared.
0.15-0.38 - for Field Testing.
0.38-0.44 - for Worn.
0.44-1 - for Battle-Scarred.
In addition, an interesting pattern was noticed between the float value and the quality of skins in CS 2. Float, in essence, reflects the probability of a skin falling out in a certain quality when opening a case.
Simply put, by opening 100 cases, you will receive from 1 to 7 colorings Direct from the factory or from 45 to 100 Battle-Scarred skins.
Factory Direct
Coloring pages with this quality are considered the most attractive and desirable. Of course, their prices are the highest. Here are the key features of such skins.
No scratches or other damage. You will not find any defects on these coloring pages. Their appearance can be called impeccable with every reason.
Rich colors, clear detailing. Such skins look bright, the smallest details are visible on them. And the reason for this is simple: absence of damage.
The highest value in the eyes of the Kaeser community. We think that no extra words are needed here. The higher the quality of a skin in KS 2, the more expensive it is.
Interest for collectors. Players with significant financial resources often collect collections of beautiful skins. And, of course, Factory New gets their attention the most.
Minimal Wear
This is the next level of wear after Factory New. These skins are distinguished by the following characteristics:
The presence of minor damage. If you look closely at these colorings, you will notice light, often subtle abrasions or scratches. But, as a rule, the patterns and ornaments on this quality of skins in KS 2 are still quite clear and noticeable, so there is practically no difference with Direct from the factory.
There is no maximum color saturation. But the color is really worse. Due to minor damage, the coloring is not perceived as bright.
Lower and more affordable price. This is logical: if there is minor damage, the colors are not as rich as those straight from the factory, then the price will be lower than for similar skins.
Popular in the Kaeser environment. This may surprise you, but slightly worn skins there are their fans who prefer them for their relatively realistic appearance, and not the perfectly “polished” one, like straight from the factory.
After field testing
This is the third level of quality of skins in KS 2. Signs of use are already very clearly visible on it. Below is a list of its main features.
Damage is at a moderate level. Even inexperienced gamers can already notice wear and tear without any problems. The coloring shows chips, scratches and other signs of use. Of course, the overall appearance is not as attractive as higher quality skins.
Lower price. Due to the fact that the colorings After field testing have noticeable signs of wear and various damage to the design, they are cheaper.
Fader color range and lower detail. Accordingly, design details, e.g. ornaments become less clear, sometimes even torn, due to damage.
Interest among collectors. Some skins, due to individual scratches, acquire a unique appearance, and therefore become valuable for fans of the game.
Worn
The fourth and penultimate level quality of skins in CS 2. Let's highlight its characteristic features:
The wear is very clearly visible. The coloring is so worn that part of the drawing is simply missing and the “original” one becomes visible. metal or plastic of the weapon.
The colors are dull, the detail is low. There is practically no trace left of the former color scheme, which is, for example, the quality Direct from the Factory. Small details are sometimes almost invisible.
Affordable price for most gamers. It is clear that the lower the quality of the skin in CS 2, the lower the price for it. Worn coloring books can be afforded by kaesers on a limited budget. Although, it cannot be denied that there are gamers who simply like worn skins. The reason is that they suit their playstyle and reflect their personality.
There is a fairly high probability of getting a skin by opening a case. Earlier in the post we talked about what a float is. The higher the float level, the worse the quality of the skin and the greater the chance of knocking it out of the case.
Battle-Scarred
There are the most skins of this quality level in the game, and their attractiveness is minimal. They can be easily identified by the following signs.
Maximum level of wear. Deep scratches are visible on the weapon, as if it had been in several hundred battles.
Very faded colors and almost complete absence of details. It happens that almost nothing remains of the original design. Drawings and ornaments become barely visible. The skin itself is blurry, partially missing, broken into several parts.
Minimum prices on trading platforms. The quality of skins in CS 2 Battle-Scarred is rated very low, so the prices for such skins are very attractive and affordable for the majority of kaesers.
Maximum probability of being knocked out of a case. The chance that when you open the next case, you will not receive a brand new coloring Direct from the factory, but only Battle-Scarred, varies from 45 to 100%.
Examples of skins
After we have described the main differences between the different quality levels, it’s time to clearly demonstrate how the dissimilarity between the skins looks visually.
And we will do this using the example of the AK-47 and the skin "Azimov".
Let's start with the quality of skins in CS 2 Straight from the factory. He looks perfect, of course. Not a scratch, not the slightest chip and the brightest colors.
The design of the coloring book is futuristic. The background is white. It depicts an ornament that is a combination of bright orange and black stripes. The skin is complemented by drawings of various geometric shapes and crosses that can be found on various parts of the body.
By the way, the float range for Factory Direct starts with a value of 0.05 and ends at 0.07.
Moving on to the next quality of skins in CS 2 - A little worn. Changes on it to "Azimov" hardly noticeable, but already appearing. The color is no longer so rich and bright. In addition, the first abrasions become noticeable on the protruding parts of the machine. What's great about this skin is the price. We can say that it is ideal for its almost pure coloring in comparison with the maximum quality Direct from the factory.

Level After field testing at «Azimov» in terms of abrasions and scratches, it is not much different from the Worn one. But what is most striking is the significant transition of the color scheme to dull shades. The skin feels like it has lost its original freshness and brightness. And, in general, it is so.

Consider the following level quality of skins in CS 2 - Worn. On "Azimov" The drawing is still intact, but small scratches are already visible on the magazine. Also, the upper part of the case, where the receiver is, is very worn. And, of course, the brightness of the color scheme was reduced even more. The weapon is becoming increasingly dark.

As for the Battle-Scarred level, the changes here are maximum even compared to the previous Well-Worn level. Particularly serious chips and abrasions are visible on the magazine. In fact, what we see on the magazine is not a single pattern, but a set of several spots. The same worn parts (albeit not so much) are on both the receiver and the butt. Although, it should be said that “Azimov" on the minimum skin quality in CS 2 it still looks very decent. There are skins for which, at this level of quality, there is practically nothing left of the design: scraps of dull ornaments, incomprehensible colors.

How to find out the quality of a skin?
The question is, in fact, not idle and important. The answer to this will help you find out how much you can earn for a coloring if you want to sell it, or estimate the size of your budget when purchasing.
There are two ways to find out the quality of a skin in CS 2.
If you want to buy, then next to the image of the coloring, trading platforms usually indicate an abbreviation consisting of two letters, for example, FN (Factory New) or WW (Worn). A complete list of all abbreviations is written at the top of this post under the subtitle “Levels of quality of skins in CS 2”. In addition to the abbreviations, there you can find out the full Russian and English names of the quality levels.
If you want to sell, this means that you need to find out what quality coloring you own.
This is done through the Inventory. To go to it, you need to go to Steam and click on your user nickname in the upper right corner of the page. In the menu that appears, select the Inventory item.
Each weapon from the Inventory can be inspected by clicking on the button of the same name.
Now that you have moved on to inspecting the weapon, look for the information icon at the bottom of the screen. Then hover your cursor over it. Information about the degree of wear (float) will appear.
