In addition to map updates, gameplay and new features in game modes, a significant part of players are interested in what knives look like in CS 2, how much better or worse they have become than in CS GO.
Realism and shadow play
It is clear that after 10 years some Kaesers have become pretty tired of the old Counter Strike, and they want something new and unusual. Valv, of course, did not disappoint with graphics. Knives now look very cool thanks to the new lighting and the play of light and shadow. If you look closely at the blade, you can see its texture on some models. Overall, knives in CS 2 look more realistic than ever in Counter Strike, and all this is achieved using the Source 2 engine.
But, of course, everything is not limited only to laudatory reviews, there are also dissatisfied voices. Among them, the opinion of Ceh9 (former Navi player Arseniy Trinozhenko) stands out, who is very critical of:
New graphics, considering them childish and too bright.
New knives and skins, calling them flat.
In turn, we hope that in this post you will look at the knife models for yourself and form your own opinion on them.
The coolest colors
Of all the knife colors that we have seen, red and emerald shades look the most interesting.
Not only do they have a magnificent reflection in the sun, but they also have the greatest gradient and number of colors in the transition from dark to light.
This is especially noticeable on the Doppler on the Bowie knife. Look carefully at how the ruby tint on the edge of the blade quite smoothly turns into an orange-fiery hue closer to the base. Moreover, the sun falling on the blade gives the feeling that the knife is burning in fire or consists of fire.

Of course, with such knives in CS 2 you can get stuck like a child and sleep through your opponent’s attack. We also had a question regarding whether too much glare from the blade would blind the player and interfere with him while skating. In principle, when CS GO first came out, it also had a lot of “jambs” that were eventually fixed by Valv. We think that this time Valve will solve the problem in a similar way.
As for the emerald one, it looks gorgeous on the Gamma Doppler karambit. When you look at it, it seems as if you are holding not a knife, but a living stone: it is not ideal, with dark spots, and it should be so, because all living things are not ideal.

«Fly in the ointment» in knives in CS 2
The “Waves” skin can be confidently called a real disappointment in the new Counter Strike. for Navaja. This type of knife is not popular in the game, so, apparently, the developers decided not to bother too much with transferring the skin from CS GO. And don’t bother so much that the skin became even worse than it was.
If any of you remember, “Waves” in the previous Contra, they transitioned beautifully and, most importantly, with a volume effect, to black from dark blue, passing through greenish and silvery shades along the way. So, practically nothing remains of this transition: dark blue goes into green, where the outlines of a silver spot are barely visible (barely visible), and then goes back into blue and black, i.e. There is no longer a complete transition to black. What’s also annoying: the knife in CS 2 against the background of the map looks like a foreign body, unknown how it ended up in the middle of magnificent buildings in oriental style.

And if you look at this skin from a different angle, you can see a stripe of dark blue, then black and then blue again near the handle. A complete failure, in our opinion. The only hope left is for the community, for those players who love Navaja and will convince Valve to fix this.

Folding knife with gradient and marble gradient
The new Counter Strike has 2 colorings for knives that we especially liked.
The first of them is a folding knife with gradient. It has a unique stunning transition from dark blue to golden orange through red and pink. The smooth change in color from the blade to the top adds a special charm to the knife in KS 2. For example, note that in the red zone (the middle of the knife) near the blade there is a predominantly dark red tint, which turns into pink as it approaches the opposite side.
Perhaps this is one of the most beautiful knives in the new Counter Strike with the exception of the Doppler, which, in our opinion, is beyond competition.

The second is a folding knife with a marble gradient. In it, our attention was most attracted to the part of the skin where green is adjacent to yellow. Look how unusually the texture is made, with dark spots giving that same marble gradient. This knife, of course, is more for everyone; absolutely everyone will not like it, but it made it onto our list for its cool texture.

Another excellent karambit
This knife in KS 2 is also from the “Waves” series, but only golden in color. It stands out among others with its attractive pattern, stretching from the handle to the very edge of the intricately curved blade, reminiscent of a tiger's claw. The pattern is made in an oriental style, and this is the first thing your eye falls on when examining a karambit.

The second feature of the knife is not so noticeable, but it’s worth taking a closer look at. Look just below the pattern. See the thin, tapering stiletto? It seems that you have not one knife in your hands, but two. Double power that destroys the enemy and leaves him in awe. Yes, putting a hesitant opponent on such a karambit while skating will be a real pleasure. But don’t look at the beauty of the blade, or, like a chicken on a spit, they will impale you.
Dreadful Butterfly
Like the Navaja, the knife in CS 2, the butterfly, became a clear failure, which Valv openly worked on carelessly. Just look at these “Waves”! green. They look like children's plasticine. That's all. There are no luminous tints of color, no gradient, or multiple colors on the blade. Just boring green. We didn’t understand at all when we saw this, I don’t understand what, who in Valv even thought of including such a terrible, unfinished skin in the game. It would be nice if this was a coloring for some unpopular knife model like the Navaja, but a butterfly...

The second obscure butterfly skin resembles a wave of a stormy sea, but only when you know that it is a Doppler coloring. To be honest, at first it seemed to us that it was some kind of exotic wriggling snake with blue-green stripes. Taking a closer look, we saw an obscure ornament on the green color, which did not evoke such emotions and a wow effect as the golden karambit, which we described in the chapter above. In general, another ugly knife in CS 2.

Criticism of new knives
We briefly wrote at the very beginning of the post that there are kaesers who are unhappy with the change in the appearance of knives and criticize Valv for innovations. The spokesman for the general opinion, in fact, is former Navi player Senya (Arseniy Trinozhenko).
He stated that the new Counter Strike has become cartoonish, has become more similar to Valorant and has moved from the category of men's games to children's shooters. Senya also noticed that the game engine made the colors much brighter, but at the same time the knife skins lost their sharpness. Simply put, now the models of knives in KS 2 are not as clear as they were in the previous Counter Strike.
Additional reasons for dissatisfaction are:
Reducing the number of colors in the coloring pattern.
Lack of smooth transitions between colors in some skins knives.
Loss of three-dimensional image for the sake of brightness.
New models of knives in CS 2
The day after the launch of the beta test of the new Counter Strike, 3D models of two new types of knives were found in the game files. The kaeser community became more interested in the so-called Twinblade - a knife whose blade is divided in two in the middle. This type of knife is not used everywhere, but if you wish, you can order its production from craftsmen who will make it by hand. There is a fairly high probability that in the new Counter Strike he can be knocked out already in the first case.

The second knife is narrow at the base and widens towards the edge of the blade. It is very similar to the small machete that is used to cut your way through vegetation in the jungle. It did not generate the same interest among the community as Twinblade. So we can say with confidence that Valv has definitely created intrigue, we are waiting for new knives in CS 2!
