In the update, which was called The Real MVP, the developers added several important elements. The main news was the first addition of community-created maps since the transition to the new engine. Five maps appeared in the game at once, which are available in different game modes. This is the first update of this kind after the game switched to a new engine.
Here is what is known about these cards:
Thera: This map takes place on the volcanic island of Santorini in Greece. Its authors are FMPone and MF_Kitten. The first of them previously participated in work on Cache. It can be played in competitive, casual, or deathmatch mode.
Mills: The setting of this map depicts a small village in the Netherlands. Its author is catfood, author of the Tuscan and Shipped maps. Like the previous one, the map is available in three main modes.
Memento: This map, created by four community members (MadsenFK, ynel, TwiN and g3om), depicts the picturesque coastline of an Italian lake and is only available in the "Partners" mode.
Assembly: This map for the "Partners" mode. the setting is much more cramped, and the match will take place in closed spaces, since the location is a hangar. The map was developed by four community members – Almaas, Quoting, Thomas and Huvaligen.
Pool Day: This classic map for the Arms Race mode may be memorable for those who played Counter Strike 1.6. The original version of the map was created by Squall, and then Leplubodespalin reworked it, adapting it to the updated version of the game. True to its name, one of the most memorable elements of the map is the pool.
In addition to the release of community maps, there are other changes. The display of video settings has been improved, the appearance of MVP panels has changed, and to display statistics on the map in competitive matchmaking, it is now enough to play two matches on the map, not ten. On Nuke, Vertigo and Anubis, bugs related to explosives getting stuck and object boundaries have been fixed.
But players’ hopes for the release of a new Operation have not yet been justified: although many expected that in honor of the 25th anniversary game Counter-Strike, which falls on June 19, a more impressive amount of new content will be released, players can only wait for news. It is possible that a new case may appear soon: at the end of 2023, players found in the game files a model of a knife with two blades, which is not yet used anywhere. In addition, the content of the program code suggests that new options for customizing weapons will appear.
