CS:GO players finally waited for the latest update, which came out on the night of February 25 and brought almost 600 MB of goodies (588.2 MB to be precise), and at the same time replaced the client version to 1.37.4.1. Pay attention to this if you still haven’t downloaded the necessary files.
What did Valve add to the game? First, the chevrons. Well, or patches, if you feel more comfortable. There are only 21 units, which will drop from special packs costing 113 rubles each. They serve to decorate your agent, i.e. skin of the character you purchased or received previously.
Patches can be attached in 3 places (may vary depending on the agent):
-
chest;
-
back (backpack);
-
shoulders;
-
lower part of the jacket.
The skin is one-time use; you cannot remove it and put it back into your inventory. If you glue a new chevron on top of the old one — the bottom one automatically disappears. Adding a patch is available either through an agent or through the chevron menu.
Is this what all CS:GO players have been waiting for? We strongly doubt it, but Valve, as always, knows better.
Visual purchase and new sight
The second major innovation of patch 1.37.4.1 — completely redesigned purchasing wheel. Firstly, it is now smaller, which may be a problem for some if they play on laptops with a small screen. Secondly, on the right side of the menu we added an agent who is holding in his hands the weapon that you selected in the store. The update is more for beauty, but some will definitely like this visualization and the opportunity to see the new skin “in action.”
What has really been improved is the sight designer. It has become more intuitive, and you can look at the crosshair design against the background of the map to visually note the strengths and weaknesses of the build. Moreover, the finished profile can now be shared between friends and other CS:GO players using the Share Import button. The system provides a link to the script so that you can make it freely available.
We also made minor improvements to the interface, added localization for all in-game currency and other little things.
Reworked locations
The update included thorough optimization of maps such as Breach and Studio.
In the first case we have the following changes:
-
Fixed a bomb getting stuck in the middle;
-
added the length near “A”
-
installed several additional staircases in the mid lane;
-
fixed trunks coming out through the texture of the door near the window;
-
Minor visual edits.
Now regarding Studio:
-
reworked geometry and general details to “A”
-
completely cut out the useless area near the window on "B";
-
Fixed lack of bomb damage;
-
fixed C4 getting stuck on the map;
-
The textures have been improved so that players do not run away from the map.
Other edits
Traditionally, with each patch Valve refines small details that greatly change the gameplay for the better.
Finally, we fixed a bug where players with AWP could instantly get up and sit down, while still having time to give a shot. Now acceleration for snipers does not work — land at normal speed, like all mortals.
The maximum frame rate threshold has been increased from 300 to 400 FPS. It is noteworthy that the most top-end monitors produce images up to 280 Hz, while not a single flagship video card is capable of processing a signal in this quality. Rather, editing for the sake of a beautiful number that is unattainable for most.
Players on OS X will no longer be afraid to go into the water, since now the game will not crash during these actions as before.
A number of changes were also made to localize CS:GO for almost 30 languages, including Russian and English.
Fly in the ointment (already fixed)
Immediately after installing the update, gamers encountered the problem of the game crashing. If you buy a MAC-10 in a store, having an active agent — the client crashed.
Valve quickly solved the problem by releasing a 3 MB micro-patch, and at the same time improved the sight, making it possible to create T-shaped crosshairs.
