Joshua "m1cks" Meeks, who previously served as an assistant coach at Cloud9, recently spoke with HLTV about his role in the team and the reasons for its decline. Since 2018, m1cks has worked as an analyst and then assistant coach with several teams, including Bravado, Rogue and eUnited. In 2019, when Cloud9 acquired the ATK roster, m1cks also transferred to it. The collaboration continued after Cloud9 management decided to change its lineup, until the organization disbanded the CS:GO division without making significant progress.
At Cloud9, Mix was involved in analyzing the opponents' play and forming a team structure that would allow them to successfully respond to the opponent's actions. He prepared the team for individual matches and competitions as a whole, making his contribution to ensure that it acted as a single mechanism. Mix also noted that one of the problems that the team had been facing lately was strong psychological pressure: instead of playing to win, the participants were afraid to lose and based their actions on the fear of defeat, which ultimately turned against them. This is the reason why Cloud9 has repeatedly started its performances successfully, and then suffered failures in the final matches.
In the future, m1cks hopes to take the position of assistant coach in one of the North American teams, and is considering options in both Counter Strike and Valorant. However, he is confident that even if he switches to Valorant for some time, he will eventually return to CS: GO.
