In this material we will look at what the Dota 2 rating is. Valve itself is in no hurry to share numbers and official statistics, so the information is more of an informational nature, since it was collected “from around the world.” many players.
The entire process of accumulating MMR points can be divided into 3 stages:
-
games before calibration;
-
Dota rating calibration;
-
games after calibration.
Second point: only regular and, oddly enough, ranked matches are suitable for increasing your rating. Training with live players and bots does not count. Otherwise, Dota would have been flooded with masters and 5000 MMR or more long ago.
Let's say right away that the rating — is far from the only value used by the game to select teams. The system also focuses on the following parameters:
-
experience — the number of games played, regardless of their success;
-
performance — How do you show yourself in each of the 5 roles, how useful are you to the team;
-
gold difference — how much you managed to earn in a certain period of time compared to your opponent;
-
loyalty — without swearing, shouting, kicking or shouting in voice chat.
This is exactly how ratings work in Dota 2. We've sorted out the basics, let's move on.
How to find out your rating in Dota 2
This question is probably of interest to all lovers of big beautiful numbers. The algorithm of actions is quite simple:
Login the game and go to your profile;
If you don’t see the numbers, click the Edit button.
Numbers for single and group ratings should appear in the drop-down menu.
This example shows that both scales are empty, since the account has never taken part in games.
Similar statistics will be seen by all players who have played less than 5 games solo or in a party.
We also note that you can view the rating in Dota 2 after each new update after completing 10 days in a row. Only in this case will it be possible to recalibrate the indicator, but we will return to this a little later. In other words, MMR statistics still need to be confirmed.
What is calibration
Calibration in Dota allows the matchmaker to understand what skill the player currently has.
The system evaluates a number of parameters necessary to reach a verdict. Among them:
-
GPM (gold per minute);
-
XPM (experience per minute);
-
healing performance;
-
damage effectiveness;
-
damage to buildings.
Indicators are read over 10 games in a row. At the same time, it is not necessary to do all the skating rinks in one day — Enough to do it during the season. On the other hand, it’s not possible to quickly calibrate a rating in Dota 2: a typical session lasts from 40 to 60 minutes.
To competently play the required top ten, try to forget what conflicts with teammates and the enemy are. Focus on the overall win percentage, since MMR directly depends on this. The emphasis should be on value and damage done.
If you look at the table, then after 10 games you can get the following result:
|
Number of wins |
Impact on rating |
|
0/10 |
-800-1000 |
|
1/10 |
-500-700 |
|
2/10 |
-400-600 |
|
3/10 |
-200-300 |
|
4/10 |
-100-150 |
|
5/10 |
0 |
|
6/10 |
+100-150 |
|
7/10 |
+200-300 |
|
8/10 |
+400-600 |
|
9/10 |
+500-700 |
|
10/10 |
+800-1000 |
In other words, if you finished the last season with 3500 MMR and won 10 calibration games, the system can calculate from 4300 to 4500 MMR.
You can recalibrate your indicator only at the beginning of the new season. So try to play beautifully. Each successful roll adds about 25 points to your MMR, and an unsuccessful one takes away the same amount. We wrote about this in more detail in this material.
Although there is another option in the Account section settings.
It will help recalibrate the Dota 2 rating by resetting the current rating and opening 10 test games. But do you really need this, especially at high levels, where the chance of merging is many times greater than successful rollers. This approach is good if you want to quickly win cups and know very well which team you will be rushing your opponent with. But if you're not sure — It's best to leave the MMR in its current state.
How to get a rating in Dota
Many beginners probably don’t understand what kind of points and MMR we are talking about in general. The thing is that getting a rating in Dota 2 is possible only after 100 hours spent in the game. At the same time, sitting on pants in the menu, lobby and single games is not taken into account — only online with a real opponent.
At the same time, you should adhere to some restrictions:
-
No turbo modes, only All Pick;
-
Choose 1-2 roles that you can really cope with, or the characters seem easy. We have already written in detail about top for beginners;
-
Behave decently and with dignity — Steam loves this, but strikes are just the opposite;
-
Try to learn something new, suffering with bullshit for 100 hours in a row will bore even the most hardened person who doesn’t give a damn. And so at least you will understand the top connections and the basic mechanics of interaction by role.
Why are we against turbo mode if you want to play ranked in Dota 2? Because everything is done there at speed, and the skating rink lasts 10-15 minutes. During this time, it is physically impossible to understand where to run and what to do. Even experienced ones get lost from time to time. The newcomer will be completely devoured. Any mistake — you are boiling in a chat that no one needs. In All Pick, the game is more measured, so there are much more chances to acclimatize.
As a “strategy” you can create your own lobby with the same newcomers, and then hang around there with 10 happy faces until the counter runs out. The main thing — create at least some semblance of activity, otherwise they don’t like bots anywhere. The method, by the way, is legal, so no one will ban anyone.
