The French team Vitality announced that Cedric "RpK" Goipue will leave the active roster after the BLAST Premier Spring Showdown. This decision was made after a number of unsuccessful performances, since since the beginning of the year the team has failed to show noticeable progress. At both IEM Katowice and ESL Pro League 13, the French failed to advance beyond the group stage.
RpK’s place in the main roster will be taken by twenty-two-year-old e-sportsman Jason “Kyojun” Nguyen Van. Team coach Remy “XTQZZZ” Kwonyam noted that the decision to change the line-up was difficult, but necessary: “Cedric – an example of a persistent player who confidently moves towards his goal and inspires others. However, the team is facing some difficulties and we need to find a new approach. Making the decision that a legendary player like RpK will not compete is never easy, and we will do everything we can to support him."
RpK has been playing for Vitality since the esports organization first assembled a CS:GO roster in October 2018. The player, who is now 31 years old, has made a significant contribution to the team's major victories, such as performances at ECS Session 7 Finals and EPICENTER 2019. It remains unclear what the player will do after leaving Vitality. In his Twitter he mentioned that he would take a break for a while to think about his future plans.
