To eliminate the accumulated differences in the rules of various competitions sponsored by Valve, the company has published a complete set of rules, called the “CS: GO Major Supplemental Rulebook”. - “Auxiliary rules for holding majors in CS: GO.” It recorded several important changes, and also described in detail the procedure for conducting the managers themselves and qualifying competitions.
In particular, the way participants in majors will be determined has changed. Valve has abandoned the ranking system that was used in the 2020 and 2021 RMR tournament cycles. From now on, only one RMR event will take place in each region between majors. In addition, teams will not be able to change their roster between the RMR tournament and the main competition.
The division into regions will differ depending on the format of the competition: for offline tournaments there will be three regions (Europe, America and Asia), and for online tournaments – five. The number of places each region will receive will depend on how it performed at the next Major. For example, teams that qualify for the Champions stage will secure their region a spot in the Legends stage in the next cycle. The number of seats at the very first level (Contenders) will remain constant for each region.
In addition, the document describes other rules that must be followed at tournaments, including the order of distribution of invitations, the format of each stage and requirements for the organizers.
