Sniper (AWPer)

Of course, it is impossible to imagine an effective CS:GO team without a sniper. This is a player who is fluent in AWP, and his main task is – hit the enemy from afar and keep key points of the map under your control. The rest of the players are working to provide him with this deadly, but very expensive weapon. Successful actions of a sniper can radically change the outcome of the match.

Support

The purpose of this role in CS:GO is quite obvious from its name. Support performs auxiliary functions and can sacrifice themselves to give others the opportunity to get into the right positions. Often it is the support who uses grenades, light and smoke bombs. Therefore, he is required to have an excellent understanding of the features of the map, as well as the ability to work in a team and clearly understand the intentions of other players, even if they do not voice them out loud.

Lurker

The main task of this player – act covertly, attacking enemies who are separated from the rest of the team or find themselves in a vulnerable position. Often he himself stays away from other comrades, trying to get behind them or catch them at gunpoint as they approach the bomb site. A lurker must not only be able to move stealthily, but also understand when it is time to show himself and attack the enemy in such a way that it comes as a surprise to him.

Entry Fragger

The entry fragger in CS:GO is the first to enter the bombsite or other position occupied by the team. His main task – hit the enemy players as quickly as possible so that the others have enough space to achieve their goal. Often the entry fragger dies, having managed to remove one or two opponents and thereby providing a good advantage for his team. The main qualities required to play this role — quick reaction and ability to instantly aim.

In-game leader (IGL, in-game leader)

The in-game leader is responsible for the overall strategy of the team, makes decisions during the match and gives instructions to other players. He is required not only to have gaming skills, but also to have the right personality: he must remain calm and collected, think rationally and quickly adapt to everything that happens during the match.

Don't forget about the secondary roles in CS:GO, which are not present in every lineup. For example, a rifler is a player who can use AWP, automatic or semi-automatic weapons, depending on what the team needs right now. He does not replace the sniper, but helps him, solving generally the same problems. Some teams also have a playmaker, who moves forward after the entry-fragger and helps him or tries to even the kill count if the fragger dies.
